Roof Cleaning Hawaii

How To Avoid Roof Damage From Roof Cleaning

There is a wide variety of roofing contractor’s today and most specialize in cleaning roofs made of certain materials. They also offer various services in removing algae, mold, moss and mildew from  your roof. However, not all roof cleaners provide quality service. There are several things you need to look out for before hiring a roof cleaning Hawaii contractor.

The main thing you should know is that most roof cleaning companies use non pressure methods to remove roof stains from moss and algae. Many times a roof does not need to be pressure washed using a high pressure spray. Usually a high pressure wash or power wash is used on older roofs where moss and algae has accumulated for many years.

Many newer roofs are easily cleaned using bleach or any chlorine based solution using a gentle non pressure rinse. This is one of the most effective and safest roof cleaning methods to remove black algae stains on roofs.

When searching for a roof cleaning contractor, be sure to ask if they have liability insurance. You can check out their liability coverages to be sure they can pay for any damages caused to your roof during cleaning. Any professional roof cleaning contractor that has been in the business for a few years will automatically provide a Certificate of Insurance which states their liability coverages.

You should also ask if the roof cleaning company will clean your entire roof. Many roof cleaning companies state they will clean the entire roof but instead only clean the areas that are stained with black algae streaks. Be sure they will remove all traces of algae and clean the entire roof. They should also be able to provide you with a guarantee that the algae will not return for a certain number of  years.

Ask exactly how many men will be cleaning your roof. It is highly recommended that at least two men clean your roof. Most companies have a team of three men cleaning your roof, two cleaning and one on the ground as a safety man and to rinse the grounds where the roof is being cleaned.

Many roof cleaning companies are dual certified meaning they are certified with The American Roof Cleaners Association and the Roof Cleaning Institute of America. This ensures that they have the knowledge and training necessary to clean any type of roof material. Not all roof cleaning companies are dual certified so before hiring a roof cleaning company it’s best to check out their certifications.
